Cleander is a photo clean-up app. It shows the photos already on your phone one at a time so you can decide which to keep and which to delete. This policy explains what information the app can access, what it does with it, and what it does not do.

The short version

1. Information we access

1.1 Photos and media (on-device only)

To work, Cleander needs permission to read the photos in your device's photo library (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES on Android; Photo Library access on iOS). This permission is used solely to:

All of this happens on your device. Photo content and file details are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

If you grant access to only a selection of photos ("Selected photos" / "Limited access"), Cleander only sees that selection.

1.2 App preferences (stored on your device)

Cleander remembers, on your device only, which photos you have chosen to keep, which are waiting in the in-app trash, your sort preference, summary counters (photos kept, photos deleted, approximate storage freed), whether you have completed onboarding, and which update or announcement messages you have already dismissed. This data is stored in the app's private storage, is not synced anywhere, and is removed when you uninstall the app.

1.3 Remote configuration (one small download)

On launch, and while the app is open, Cleander reads a small configuration file from Firebase Realtime Database (a Google service). This file contains only settings written by us — for example the minimum supported app version, an "update available" message, a maintenance notice, or an announcement. Cleander sends no personal data and no photo data in this request.

As with any internet request, Google's servers may temporarily process technical details such as your device's IP address and the time of the request in order to deliver the response. We do not receive, store, or use this information. Google's handling of such data is described in the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and the Firebase Privacy and Security page (https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy).

2. Information we do NOT collect

Cleander does not collect, store, or transmit:

3. How information is used

The only purposes for which Cleander accesses information are to display your photos, to delete the ones you select, to remember your progress on your device, and to show you service messages (updates, maintenance, announcements) from the remote configuration file.

4. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share any personal information. The only third-party service the app contacts is Firebase (Google) for the configuration download described in section 1.3. No photo data or personal information is sent to Firebase.

5. Data retention and deletion

6. Permissions summary (Android)

PermissionWhy
Read media images / PhotosShow your photos so you can review them; delete the ones you choose (with system confirmation).
Internet / network stateDownload the remote configuration file (updates, maintenance, announcements).
VibrateHaptic feedback when you swipe.

7. Children

Cleander is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

8. Security

Because your photos and preferences never leave your device, they are protected by your device's own security (screen lock, encryption). The configuration download uses an encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connection.

9. Future changes to the app

If a future version of Cleander adds features that change how data is handled — for example optional advertising or in-app purchases — this policy will be updated before those features are released, and the app will ask for any additional permissions at that time.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced in the app. The current version is always available at the link published on the app's store listing.
